PvE rules in detail
What the server prevents. Players, death, bases, turrets, vehicles, loot and monuments.
All these rules are enforced by the server. They work at all times, whether you are online or not. One term to remember: your group means your in-game team.
Players
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| No damage between groups | Bullets, melee, explosives, fire, thrown items: nothing hurts a player outside your group. Your vehicle (if you run someone over), your traps and your turrets count as you too. |
| Passengers protected | A vehicle with someone from another group on board takes no damage from you: you can’t shoot down a heli or blow up a car with strangers inside. |
| No searching, robbing or handcuffing | You can’t search or handcuff a player from another group, whatever their state, even asleep. |
| Sleeping players | Same protection as a player who is awake. |
| Sleeping bags | You can only give a sleeping bag to someone in your group. |
Death
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Weapon kept | The weapon in your hands stays in your body instead of dropping to the ground. |
| Backpack kept | Your backpack stays on your body. |
| Body reserved | Only your group can loot your body and your death bag, and pick up what dropped around you when you died. No time limit, apart from the game’s normal despawn. |
| Wounded for longer | You stay wounded (downed) much longer than in vanilla before dying: your group has time to pick you up. |
To find your body, use /death (also /mort). See Death and bodies.
NPCs, the Bradley and the helicopter
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Safe at home | In a base where you are authorized on the cupboard, no human NPC, Bradley or helicopter can target you or hurt you. |
| Unless you shoot from home | If someone in your group attacks an NPC, the Bradley or the helicopter from your base, that target can fire back at your group at home for a while. Your base is not a risk-free sniper nest. |
| Nothing follows you home | An NPC chasing you can’t target you any more once you are home. |
| Patrol Helicopter | It only chases and strafes players who attacked it recently. Everyone else is ignored, even if armed and well geared. |
| Bradley APC | Same rule: it only targets those who attacked it recently. Convoy Bradleys follow their own rules (see Events). |
| Animals | The home protection only covers human NPCs: a wolf or a bear that follows you home can still bite. |
Turrets, traps and SAM sites
| Equipment | Rule |
|---|---|
| Players’ turrets, traps and SAM sites | Never hit another group or its vehicles. Turrets still shoot at NPCs. |
| Outpost and Bandit Camp turrets | Unchanged. |
| Monument and raid base SAM sites | Unchanged: they fire at anything that flies. A red dome shows around the ones that can fire at you (see Vehicles). |
Your base
“Your base” is the building privilege zone of your Tool Cupboard (TC). Players authorized on the cupboard are “at home”.
Nobody outside your group can use, open, damage or take down anything of yours. This applies to everything your group owns, anywhere on the map, and to everything inside your base.
What visitors can still do in your base
A visitor can only buy from your vending machines, play your slot machines, post mail and knock on your doors.
World damage and upkeep
Whatever players built or placed takes no damage from NPCs, the helicopter, the Bradley, or event fires and debris. Only upkeep (decay) still applies, as in vanilla: keep your cupboard stocked.
Vehicles are not protected this way: NPCs, the helicopter, the Bradley and events can destroy them.
The Tool Cupboard and teams
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Who can authorize | Only your team can authorize on your cupboard. |
| Never locked out | You can always authorize again on your own cupboard. |
| Maximum | Each player can only place a limited number of cupboards. |
| Leaving a team | You are removed from your former teammates’ cupboards and turrets. |
| Shared blueprints | Blueprints you got from your team are lost if you leave it or get kicked from it; the ones you learned yourself stay yours. |
Building
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Inside another group’s base | Forbidden: no ladder, no lock, no cupboard, no item, no building block. |
| Distance from another base | You can’t build too close to another group’s base. Raid bases don’t count. |
| Distance from another player | Outside your base, you can’t build right next to a player from another group, even a sleeping one. |
Vehicles and horses
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Bought from a vendor | It’s yours for good. |
| Free vehicle | It becomes yours as soon as you take the driver’s seat. This applies to helis, boats, cars, snowmobiles, bikes, submarines, horses and siege engines. Not to trains or hot air balloons, and not in raid bases. |
| Who can drive it | Only your group. Others can ride as passengers only if someone from your group is on board, and can never take the controls. |
| End of the claim | A vehicle you only took (didn’t buy) becomes free again if it’s left abandoned for a long time. It stays yours if it’s parked in your base. |
| Horse bought at the stables | Yours for good, like a bought vehicle. |
| Horse death | What drops from a horse you own goes to your group. |
Always park your vehicles and horses in your base: there, they stay yours indefinitely.
Loot: who gets what
| Source | Goes to | In practice |
|---|---|---|
| Human NPC | The group that led the fight | Its body and its loot stay reserved for that group for a good while. |
| Animal | The group that led the fight | Others can’t skin it. |
| Patrol Helicopter, Bradley APC | The group that led the fight | Its crates and debris, even if they land in someone else’s base. |
| Hackable crate | The group that starts the hack | Others can’t hack it or loot it. |
| Supply signal airdrop | The group of whoever threw the signal | The plane and the crate. Airdrops nobody called in are free for all. |
| Event crates | The first group that kills one of the event’s guards, or opens the crate | Released if that group leaves. |
| Big monuments | The group clearing it: the first to shoot one of its NPCs or open one of its crates | Its crates are reserved for that group while it stays there, for a limited time. |
| Your body, your death bag, your dropped items | Your group | Until they despawn normally |
Claimable monuments
Big monuments: military bases, Launch Site, oil rigs, harbors… Outpost and Bandit Camp can never be claimed.
Public machines
A monument recycler, furnace, quarry or workbench becomes yours as long as your items are inside (including the Outpost and Bandit Camp recyclers). Others can’t open it or turn the recycler on. The lock lasts until you empty the machine or stay away for a while.
