Base and building
Where to build, how many Tool Cupboards, upkeep, the Remover Tool and the small building improvements.
Building rules
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Building and upgrade costs | same as vanilla |
| Distance from another group’s base (with a Tool Cupboard) | a minimum distance to respect |
| Distance from a player of another group, outside your base | not right next to them (even if they’re asleep) |
| Building in another group’s base | not allowed (no ladders, locks, Tool Cupboards or items) |
| Tool Cupboards | limited number per player |
| Sleeping bags | 15 per player (vanilla) |
Good spots go fast at the start of a wipe: because of the minimum distance, the first Tool Cupboard placed claims the area.
Your base is untouchable
Within your Tool Cupboard’s range, nobody outside your group can open, use, break or dismantle anything. NPCs, the Patrol Helicopter, the Bradley APC, fires and event debris do it no damage. The details are in PvE rules.
Upkeep (decay)
Upkeep is the same as vanilla. Your base has nothing to fear from other players, but it decays if your Tool Cupboard is empty: keep it stocked.
| Material | Time until destroyed, empty Tool Cupboard |
|---|---|
| Twig | 1 h |
| Wood | 3 h |
| Stone | 5 h |
| Metal | 8 h |
| Armored | 12 h |
The upkeep cost per 24 h depends on the size of the base: 10% of the cost for the first 15 blocks, 15% up to 50, 20% up to 125, and 33.3% beyond that.
In the Tool Cupboard, stacks are much bigger still: enough to last a long time.
The Remover Tool: /remove
Type /remove to turn the tool on for a while, or /remove 120 to choose the duration (in seconds). Type /remove again to stop it.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| How to use it | empty hands, left click, at close range |
| Where | only in a base where you’re authorized on the Tool Cupboard, and never on anything that belongs to another group |
| Building block refund | part of the cost of its current material |
| Placed item refund | the item itself, with its lock and its contents |
| Box with items inside | its items drop in a bag |
| Not possible | placed items that are too damaged, crops |
Small extras
- The workbench counts in your whole base: no need to stand right next to it to use its level (see Crafting).
- Sprinklers are fixed: water flows everywhere.
- Blueprints you learn are shared with your team (see Loot and blueprints).
