Vehicles, horses and helis
Who owns which vehicle, for how long, and the tools for your helicopters and horses.
Who owns a vehicle
| Case | Rule |
|---|---|
| Bought from a vendor | Yours, for good. |
| Found free on the map | Yours as soon as you take the driver’s seat. |
| Taken but not bought | Free again if left abandoned for long, unless it’s parked in your base. |
| Horse bought at the stables | Yours, for good. |
Applies to: helicopters, boats (Rowboat, RHIB, Kayak, Tugboat…), modular cars, snowmobiles, bikes, submarines, horses and siege engines. Not trains or hot air balloons.
Nobody outside your group can drive your vehicle, open it, loot it or damage it. A player from another group can ride as a passenger only if someone from your group is on board.
Vehicles are not protected from NPCs, the Patrol Helicopter, the Bradley APC and events, unlike your base.
Helicopters and cars don’t decay, outside or under cover: you find them as you left them. Other vehicles (boats, snowmobiles, hot air balloons…) keep the base game’s decay.
Your helicopters: /heli
Type /heli to show a live on-screen card for your helicopters (bought, or claimed by taking the controls): position, altitude, fuel, condition.
A ping visible through walls and a map marker follow it. Type /heli again to hide it.
No accidental jumps
In flight, you have to hold Space for a few seconds to jump out of a helicopter (a countdown shows up). When landed, on water or just above the ground, Space works normally. If the heli is destroyed, everyone gets thrown out as usual.
Red SAM site domes
When you fly near a SAM site that can shoot at you, a red dome shows its firing zone.
- SAM sites at monuments and raid bases shoot at anything that flies: they have a dome.
- Other groups’ SAM sites can never shoot at you: no dome.
- Your own group’s SAM sites can shoot at your aircraft once they’re powered and loaded: they have a dome too.
Your horses: /horse
Type /horse (also /cheval) to show a live card of your nearest horse: where it is and what state it’s in.
“Your horses” are the ones that belong to you: bought at the stables, or claimed by riding them. A ping visible through walls and a map marker follow it. The horse doesn’t come to you: it’s up to you to go and get it. Type /horse again to hide the card.
Bind it to a key: bind h horse.whistle in the console (F1). The key opens and closes the card.
