Death and bodies
What happens when you go down, how to find your body and what becomes of your gear.
Wounded
When you get downed, you last much longer than in vanilla before you die. Your teammates have time to come and revive you, just like in the normal game. The countdown on your screen shows the real time you have left.
Your gear after death
- The weapon you were holding stays on your body instead of dropping on the ground.
- Your backpack stays on you.
- Only your group can loot your body and your bag, or pick up what dropped around you when you died. There’s no time limit, apart from the game’s normal corpse despawn.
- Bodies stay on the floor they fell on: they no longer drop through floors or grills.
- If you die in another group’s raid base, your body is placed just outside its dome.
Find your body: /death
Type /death (also /stuff, /mort) in the chat. The server looks for the closest body or bag that still holds items, yours or a teammate’s, anywhere on the map. It places a ping on it and gives you the distance, direction and map grid:
“Your corpse: 245 m north-east (grid F7), 12 item(s). Ping placed on it.”
If there are others, the message says so: run the command again once you’ve picked up the first one.
Bind it to a key: open the console (F1) and type bind j death.find. The J key will run the search.
NPC corpses
A dead NPC keeps its clothes on as long as there’s something left to take from it. So a body that’s still dressed hasn’t been fully looted: handy for spotting where loot is left after a big fight.
An NPC’s loot goes to the group that led the fight, and stays theirs for a good while (see PvE rules).
A bug?
If you die because of an obvious bug (falling through the map, a failed teleport…), contact the server staff with the map grid and the time it happened: an admin can revive you and give you back your inventory.
